Purple asters bloom in late summer in New Mexico. They are blooming everywhere now! They start around the same time as roasting green chile and last beyond the State Fair and into the Balloon Fiesta. Autumn is a great time of year in New Mexico. Mild, sunny days and cool crisp nights!

Wow! I must have had my head in the clouds all summer! I haven't been blogging, but have kept myself busy. We've had wonderful late summer rains. Here is one of the terrific thunderclouds as it is building to the east of Placitas. Check out climate data at http://www.usclimatedata.com/climate/placitas/new-mexico/united-states/usnm0547

Enjoying the rural lifestyle! We got the 1948 Farmall Cub running and doing some work! What a hoot! Placitas offers many different lifestyles---we enjoy the old acequia and our orchard and vineyard.

First time irrigating the orchard this spring! Wonderful acequia system in the Village of Placitas. The apples are blooming and lovely. I enjoy the sound of the bees and critters in the trees.
Spring in New Mexico feels sunny and warm!

Time to think about a vegetable garden! You should check out the great information from the New Mexico Extension Service at http://aces.nmsu.edu/pubs/_circulars/CR457/

There is very specific information available about when to plant, how to plant, how close to plant, types of veggies that do well in NM. Lots of great details.

I plan on having a great garden this year with at least tomatoes and chile! Photos from previous years!
